The Fair Processing Notice Guidance explains the legal framework that applies to the use of personal data, in particular the circumstances in which bodies may share or disclose the data to third parties. 
This year, in order to cut down the burden on schools, and after consultation between the DCSF and the Information Commissioner, the FPN has been broken down into two layers:
 
* Layer One is a brief one page notice to go to all parents; 
* Layer Two is an amplification giving more information about the organisations who have access to information and the uses they make of it;
